I have edited more than 40 non-fiction history books and general biographies for Pen and Sword Books, with subjects including serial killers, the nonconformist revolution, Shakespeare's duelling scenes, an archaelogical history of burial grounds, Roman York, the Victorian childcare systems, Elizabethan romance, Arsenal and Liverpool football clubs, the history of horror films as well as biographies of Terry Pratchett and Stan Lee. Please see below for a section of my titles.
Known as a 'safe pair of hands', I'm a confident editor with a keen eye for a badly written sentence, repetition and a typo. I make bold decisions that improve the flow and structure of your book to ensure that the finished product is as good as possible. I offer copy editing, developmental editing and proofreading.
I also source authors for Pen and Sword, so if you have an idea for a non-fiction book or an old manuscript gathering dust, contact me here.
You can find me on Reedsy, which connected unpublished writers with editors and other publishing professionals.
Want to know what I'm like to work with? Have a look at my testimonials:
Kate edited my book The Magic of Terry Pratchett, and was an absolute joy to work with. Not only is she fastidiously accurate and has an excellent eye for flow and detail, she was also willing to listen to my ideas and arguments, meaning we very much sculpted the final shape of the book together. I never once felt in anything less than capable hands, and I’d work with her again in a heartbeat. She also has the patience of a saint.
Kate Bohdanowicz was Editor on my book, ‘The Nonconformist Revolution’ for Pen and Sword Books (2019-20). We had not worked together before but her introductory email made me feel immediately at ease. Kate was a pleasure to work with and extremely professional. She was thorough, meticulous, knowledgeable, and worked quickly. She was also constantly mindful of the need to be empathetic and reassuring. I would happily work with Kate again.
